Castle Concerts are delighted to announce that one of the Scotland most iconic bands, Deacon Blue, will be returning to Edinburgh Castle on Saturday 09th July.
Formed in Glasgow in 1985, Deacon Blue went on to become one of the city’s most famous and successful bands. From debut album Raintown, which celebrates it’s 34h anniversary in 2021 and follow-up, the chart-topping ‘When The World Knows Your Name’, through to 2016’s ‘Believers’, their highest charting album till 2020s ‘City of Love’, Ricky Ross said: “Edinburgh in the summer is always a delight and we’re over the moon to be playing at Castle Rock again in 2022. It’s an epic backdrop and a very special place to play, come rain or shine!”
City of Love (released March 6th 2020) was the fourth release of a prolific seven-year period for Deacon Blue. They returned the band to the Top 20 of the UK album charts, with ‘City Of Love’ reaching No 4, giving them their highest charting album in 25 years.
This has fueled a creative resurgence which returned the band not only to mainstream radio playlists, but also back into the sort of venues befitting the stature of a chart-topping legacy boasting 7 million album sales, two number one albums and 14 hit singles.
“We really can’t wait to play Edinburgh Castle again, we’re going to make this our best ever show!” said Lorraine Ross.
Deacon Blue are consistently one of the most respected and best loved bands of their generation.
